ISLAMABAD: Opposition benches in Senate have submitted adjournment motion on Monday for making presence of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif mandatory in the house.
According to sources, the proposed amendment in Senate rule 61 will bound Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to attend the session at least once a week. Furthermore, the zero hour of the Senate will be replaced with the PM’s zero hour, sources told.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Senator Tahir Hussain Mashhadi will present the amendment in rule 61 of the Senate.
After submitting motion, MQM senator Tahir Mahshadi said that PM even not attend the session once after taking over the charge, while senate should amend the rule for making PM presence in the house
Tahir Mashhadi said the amendment in the rule simply requires majority to implement the proposed change.
It may be mentioned here that Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has not attended a single Senate session since he took oath as the premier of the country.
