KARACHI: Leader of Balochistan National Party (BNP), Akhtar Mengal met Mohajir Qaumi Movement –Haqiqi (MQM-H)leader Afaq Ahmed and exchanged views on Balochistan turmoil.
Mengal said that although the government has changed, the situation of Balochistan has worsened instead of improving.
“The situation has worsened from one corpse to mass graves,” he lamented while talking to media alongside MQM-H leader Afaq Ahmed after their meeting.
Mengal noted the mindset towards Balochistan has seen no change nor has there been any action on the nine points proposed to the government to improve the province’s situation.
Mengal inquired that what will he do of such assemblies, when he cannot speak of the rights of his party workers.
He said that the entire Balochistan’s representation in the National Assembly (NA) of Pakistan, is not equal to that of a single district of Sindh and Punjab.
On this occasion, Afaq Ahmed stated that the circumstances in Karachi are also worsened like Balochistan, courts are performing their duties under great pressure and the judicial complex is not being constructed due to fears.
Ahmed demanded that the missing persons, even in a case where they were actually involved in a crime, be presented before the courts. “Balochistan’s situation is not just a problem of one province but it is an issue for the entire country,” he added.
The Balochistan issue, Afaq Ahmed warned, if not taken seriously would lead to an irreversible loss.
