WASHINGTON: International Monetary Fund (IMF) Pakistan Mission Chief, Jeffrey Franks said that Pakistani officials in times of financial crisis take loan and forget the pledges as soon as they overcome the situation.
Talking to a private TV channel, Jeffrey Franks said that several IMF programs with Pakistan could not succeed as when Pakistani officials face financial difficulties, they make all sorts of pledges, but sooner they get out the crisis forget to fulfill them.
He said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government seems determined for the economic reforms and therefore, IMF is giving the loan.
Franks informed media that there is a lot to be done and reforms have been started in the energy sector, saying that the decrease in the load shedding has started.
He said that government has started tax reforms and rate of tax collection has improved in the current years as compared to the previous year and it is expected that there would be more increase in the tax collection in the coming years.
Jeffery Franks said that there are several countries other than Pakistan where there are security concerns, saying that it would not put effect if economic reforms are implemented.
