ISLAMABAD: At the start of summer season, the government has come up with soothing news, Minister for Water and Power, Khwaja Muhammad Asif has informed that 2000 MW electricity will be added to the national grid during this summer season that will pave the way to overcome electricity crises in the country.
In an interview, the minister said that the government is generating 1700 MW power through hydro at the moment.
Khwaja Asif said his ministry would be succeeded to overcome load-shedding from October last year to March 2014.
He accepted that the present government is struggling to provide electricity to the masses on lower rates.
While, Abid Sher Ali, State Minister for Water and Power said the government has initiated operation against power theft all over the country.
Minister briefed that 1.33 billion rupees have been recovered in account of fine for electricity theft during last.
Abid Sher Ali said the Prime Minister has released 4.50 billion rupees fund to tackle energy shortage in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KPK).
