Lahore: Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has announced to build a coal powered steel mills in Chiniot very soon after exploration of iron ore reserves in the area.
According to Radio Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif has said the initial results of exploration are very encouraging and the standard of iron ore found in the area is no less than that of Brazil, Russia and India.
He said that an agreement for exploration of iron ore has already been signed with a Chinese company and the project would open up a new era of progress and development in the country.
He further added a Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park would also be set up in Punjab with the cooperation of a Chinese group with an investment of two billion dollars.
The same group has also expressed interest in setting up two coal power plants of 660 megawatt each in Sahiwal, he added.
