KARACHI: Central leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Farooq Sattar, sees former president and army chief Pervez Musharraf’s indictment in high treason case as ‘selective justice’.
“I think the provision of justice should not be selective, it’s tantamount to compromising on serving the justice as we see in Musharraf’s trial. The requirements of justice must be fulfilled indiscriminately,” said the MQM’s senior leader while speaking to media persons here.
Replying to a question, he said the Article 6, which deals with violation of the Constitution, must be implemented in its letter and spirit sans any ‘favoritism’.
The Special Court, earlier today, indicted former military ruler Pervez Musharraf for treason on charges relating to his 2007 imposition of emergency rule.
Tahira Safdar, one of three judges of a special court convened to hear the case, read out five charges, with the ex-president pleading “not guilty” to each of them.
Former military dictator Pervez Musharraf faces the death penalty if convicted of the charges.
