BOSTON: A fire in brownstone, driven by wind, trapped and killed two firefighters in Back Bay neighborhood of Boston on Wednesday, media reported.
Thirteen firefighters and policemen were injured and taken to the hospital due to Boston fire.
For rescue purpose, many upper floors of neighboring four storey buildings were vacated too but nobody was injured or hurt,
Mayor Marty Walsh said, “Today’s a sad day for the city of Boston. We lost two heroes here today.”
Lt. Edward J. Walsh, 43-year-old, and Michael R. Kennedy, 33-year-old, were the deceased firefighters.
According to Joseph Finn, Deputy Fire Chief, fire broke out in brownstone’s basement but caught the whole building within no time.
“In 30 years I’ve never seen a fire travel that fast, escalate that quickly and create such havoc in such a short period of time,” said Joseph.
