KARACHI: Pakistani politician and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan expressed fear that the recent 1.5 billion dollars assistance from a so-called ‘friendly’ country may trigger a sectarian war on the same footing as the one going on in Syria.
The cricketer turned politician said that the 1.5 billion dollar aid may prove expensive for the country as it could trigger the Shia-Sunni war while saying that the money may be a license for Arab princes to hunt rare birds in Pakistan.
Speaking on a private TV channel about peace talks with Taliban, Imran Khan said at least now we could tell the peace-wishers from the war-wagers.
“All the major tribes are in the favour of peace, which can only be made through negotiation”, said he.
He also showed concern over the feared sabotage of talks by USA and unscrupulous forces in Pakistan.
The PTI chief lamented that he kept on supporting the talks plan and stood behind innocent people of North Waziristan despite being labelled as ‘Taliban Khan’ by opponents.
