KARACHI: Despite huge claims of promotion in the field of education during election campaign, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML N) failed to appoint permanent heads in several key educational institution of the country.
The educational institution included Higher Education Commission (HEC), Federal Urdu Dictionary Board, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) and International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI).
In its election manifesto, the PML N placed education in first priority and had promised to take revolutionary steps for the promotion of education.
But contrary to promises, the educational institutions are still waiting for the appointments of permanent heads.
Chairman HEC post lied vacant since August 2013 as two deadlines have been passed given by Higher courts.
Earlier, Islamabad High Court had set the deadline of February 12 2014 for the appointment of permanent head of HEC and then Supreme Court of Pakistan fixed the deadline of March 20 of this year for the appointment on said post.
Both the deadline could not compel the government to appoint the permanent chairman of HEC.
