MITHI: The initiatives taken by the Sindh and the federal government for drought affected people of Tharparkar district are limited to announcements only as the authorities have been failed to fulfill their promises.
Mithi, the main city of the district, has become a center point for the drought affected people but thousands of others are still waiting for the help in more than 2365 remote villages of the city.
The villagers are so much poor that they don’t have enough money to travel to hospital for treatment.
However, more than 200 people were admitted to only hospital in the city on Tuesday but shortage of doctors and paramedical staff in the hospital is worsening the situation.
Sources said that the death toll had been reached to 130 as three more children lost their lives on Tuesday (today).
People from far flung areas of Thar who reached here in the hope of relief goods have staged protest and blocked a road in the city. The protestors alleged favoritism in distribution of the relief goods.
