WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s Ambassador in Washington Jalil Abbas Jilani has said that the mutual trust is key in fostering effective long-term Pakistan-United States ties.
This he said while speaking at a function in Washington and also emphasised for sustained engagement with Afghanistan.
He described Pakistan-US relations as vital and said despite ups and downs in the ties‚ there is no doubt that the two countries need each other.
The ambassador appreciated Washington’s cooperation in energy‚ counterterrorism‚ economic‚ security and strategic stability areas under the Strategic Dialogue.
He also urged the U.S. to give greater trade access to Pakistani products. On Afghanistan‚ Ambassador Jilani reaffirmed Islamabad’s support for an Afghan-led reconciliation process.
