Washington: The government of Pakistan has finally decidedĀ to launch a full-fledged military operation in the North Waziristan tribal region against Taliban, US newspaper Washington Post reported on Wednesday.
The newspaper quoted senior Pakistani official that Pakistan has discussed with top US officials including CIA chief regarding the plan which could be started any day.
The newspaper further said that around 1,50,000 Pakistani troops were already based in the tribal areas to launch a massive operation.
Planning for the operation comes amidĀ a Pakistan-requested pause in U.S. drone strikesĀ that is entering its third month ā the longest period without such an attack in more than two years ā and high-level bilateral meetings, the newspaper added.
