COPENHAGEN: Denmark government has imposed ban on slaughtering of animals on religious manner which sparked severe criticism by Muslim and Jews.
Denmark minister for food and agriculture defending disputed law said animal rights above then religion. He said that law was imposed to prevent animals from pain. However religious groups declared the move interfere in the religious matter.
Monitoring group Danish Halal has started petition against the law declaring it as a clear interference in religious matter and challenged it in court. Danish Halal group was of the view that this ban was not imposed for animals but for interfering religious matters of Muslim and Jews.
On the other side, Israel’s deputy minister for religious services Rabbi Eli Ben Dahan severely criticized the ban and said through this ban anti religion face of Europe’s unearthed on world.
It is pertinent to mention here that according to European’s law it is obliged to stunned animals before they are slaughtered .Exception are given in law on religious ground to Muslim and Jews but government now have end the exception on it .
