LAHORE: Former wicket keeper Moin Khan is appointed as the new head coach of Pakistan cricket team after the management committee meeting today.
Moin will be assisted by Zaheer Abbas on the batting front as the legendary batsman is appointed as batting consultant.
While Zakir Khan is the new team manager.
The appointments are only for the upcoming T20 and Asia cup tournaments.
The announcements made by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief operating officer Subhan Ahmed include Amir Sohail and Basit Ali’s removal as selection committee chairman and Karachi region coach respectively.
Mr. Ahmed clarified that the former opener Amir Sohail was never issued a formal appointment letter.
The COO announced that Ex-test opener Shoaib Mohammad, son of the great Hanif Mohammad is appointed as fielding coach while bowling coach Mohammad Akram’s contract was extended for two years.
Azhar Khan will be acting chief selector.
PCB chairman Najam Sethi said that Pakistan has been left alone in International cricket arena and he will try his best to bring back the former position and cricketing glory to Pakistan.
The committee also ratified Najam Sethi’s reinstatement as PCB chief.
