Islamabad: All set for a first formal meeting between the negotiations committee formed by the government and the Taliban here on Tuesday.
According to reports, the decision came following a telephone conversation between Maulana Samiul Haq, member of the Taliban committee and Irfan Siddiqui who is representing the government.
Irfan Siddiqui has said representatives of the two sides will hold informal talks to move forward in a good spirit.
Earlier in the day, three members of the Taliban’s negotiation team met in the federal capital and later contacted Irfan Siddiqui.
It is to be mentioned here that Taliban made 5 members committee comprising of Maulana Samiul Haq, Professor Ibrahim, Maulana Abdul Aziz, Mufti Kifayatullah and Imran Khan.
But Mufti Kifayatullah and Imran Khan have dismissed the proposal of Taliban regarding inclusion in the committee as per party decision.
While the government’s committee comprises Irfan Siddiqui, Major (retd) Aamir, Rahimullah Yousafzai and Rustam Shah Mohmand.
