Washington: Unannounced Nokia’s highly anticipated smartphone Nokia Lumia Icon with Verizon tag made another web appearance.
Nokia has quickly become the face for Microsoft’s Windows Phone smartphones through its Lumia series. The company accounts for close to ninety percent of all Windows Phone smartphones sold and is in the final stages of being acquired by Microsoft. Nokia has taken the route of releasing different Lumia handsets to appeal to customers, from the low-end 4-inch Lumia 520 to its 6-inch Lumia 1520 phablet.
The company is planning a new Lumia handset for Verizon Wireless, which is known as the Lumia Icon and sometimes referred to as the Lumia 929 (replacing the Verizon Lumia 928).
A few weeks ago Verizon posted an image and details regarding the Nokia Lumia Icon on one of its test websites, signaling a potential immediate release.
The wireless carrier removed all traces of the smartphone from its site and neither Verizon nor Nokia have publicly acknowledged the smartphone’s existence so far.
Verizon is at it once again and has posted the same image and details of the Nokia Lumia Icon on its website on Tuesday, before quickly removing all traces of the smartphone. Luckily, we were able to get a screenshot and it’s an exact match of the listing we saw a few weeks ago.
The Verizon Nokia Lumia Icon will feature a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD AMOLED display and will use a high-end 20-megapixel PureView camera with dual-LED flash and front facing camera for video chat and selfies.
The Verizon Nokia Lumia Icon will ship with 32GB of internal storage, will be powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM. Its wireless connectivity options consist of a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE (Low Energy), GPS, and NFC.
Nokia has also included Qi wireless charging support out of the box, although you’ll need to supply a compatible charger. The Lumia Icon will be offered in two choices – glossy white or matte black – and also include stereo speakers.
Verizon listed the price of the Nokia Lumia Icon at $777.00 when purchased with a new 2-year contract. That price is simply a placeholder and the smartphone is expected to retail for around $199 when Verizon stops teasing us and officially announces the Lumia Icon.
