KARACHI: Besides ongoing targeted operation by law enforcement agencies, at least 12 persons were killed and several others injured in the result of the violent incidents in Karachi on Wednesday.
Meanwhile police has arrested over 100 persons from Qayyumabad, Mehmoodabad and adjoining areas after the attack on polio team workers. SSP Pir Muhammad Shah has said that the investigation from the arrested persons would be conducted.
According to police, a cracker attack near Joona Masjid in Lyari, killed three people and injured one. The victims were identified as 40-year-old Zakia, 10-year-old Madad and 2-year-old Tabassum. Tension prevailed in the parts of Lyari as two rival groups attacked each other.
A man was also shot dead in a firing incident that occurred at Ahmed Shah Bukhari Road in Lyari.
Two persons, including a prayer leader, were gunned down in Orangi Town.
Meanwhile bodies of four unidentified men and a woman were found lying on a link road near Gulshan-e-Hadeed. The victims were shot in heads.The deceased, who were wearing shalwar kameez, could not be identified as police were collecting information from the locality about their identification. The bodies were shifted to Jinnah hospital for medico-legal formalities. One person was killed in the result of the firing of unknown persons near the Manghopir Chadar factory.
Three days old dead body was recovered from Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of Karachi.
The dead body of a woman sacked in gunny bag was recovered from Gulistan-e-jauhar 15 area of the city. The woman was killed with a sharp knife.
On the other hand, police arrested three target killers from Clifton while Rangers rounded up 29 suspects from different areas of the city during search operation
