Washington: As Nokia is eyeing to launch its first Lumia device with a name Nokia Lumia Icon, now new details about the device leaked.
Verizon Windows Phone fans have been waiting for the carrier to replace the Nokia Lumia 928 and we’ve already seen images of the upcoming smartphone.
The device was believed to be the Lumia 929, but Verizon recently posted a test page that revealed the device’s name, seemingly implying that Nokia could be dropping number monikers from its Lumia naming convention. Verizon’s page clearly referred to the smartphone as the Nokia Lumia Icon.
A very short video has now popped up, giving the world a first glimpse at the unannounced smartphone. The hands-on video shows off the design and user interface of the purported Lumia Icon. The handset strongly resembles the Lumia 928, but has been packed with features such as a 5-inch 1080p Full HD display and a powerful quad-core processor.
The Verizon Nokia Lumia Icon is expected to feature a gorgeous 5-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD AMOLED display and run Windows Phone 8 Update 3 with Lumia Black Update pre-installed. Just like the Lumia 1520, the Icon will use a powerful 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM to keep things running very smoothly. It is expected to ship with 32GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 64GB microSD cards.
The Verizon Lumia Icon will also ship with a high-end 20-megapixel PureView camera that Verizon confirms will use a single-finger zoom to make it easy to get closer to what you’re trying to capture. The carrier also listed the Lumia Icon as having a large non-removable 2,420 mAh battery and stereo sound.
There’s no word on an exact release date for the Verizon Nokia Lumia Icon. Previous reports claimed the carrier would offer the smartphone on Jan. 16. That obviously hasn’t happened, so we’ll just have to be patient and wait for the official word. It shouldn’t be long considering Verizon has already listed the smartphone on its test site and the handset has been caught on camera in the wild.
