Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday ordered Interior Ministry and Cabinet Division to provide bullet proof car to the former chief justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Chaudhry before January 9, otherwise the court will issue an order to take back these cars from all VVIPs.
On Friday, during the hearing of a petition on providing security to former chief justice, the court stated that it was a serious matter and federal government should provide fool proof security to Iftikhar Chaudhry.
During the hearing, Inspector General Islamabad informed the court that the government has no more bullet proof car for providing to the former chief justice.
He further said that it will only be provided with the special order by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Replying this, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddique said that it means that the former CJ has to take permission with the PM?
No excuse will be accepted regarding the issue, if the government could not provide security to Iftikhar Chaudhry before January 9, so the court will issue an order to take back these cars from all VVIPs.
On Thursday, the IHC justice remarked, “It’s astonishing that a person who abrogated the Constitution is being given thousands of security personnel, but one who protected it is not being given security.”
