ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan’s Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday directed the gas companies for ensuring continuous supplies to the domestic consumers, across the country especially in Balochistan.
He was talking in a meeting, here, with chief secretary Balochistan, who informed about the complaints and problems in wake of low gas pressure in the province.
The minister directed heads of the gas distribution companies to take effective measures for ensuring smooth gas supply to domestic consumers, throughout the country, especially in Balochistan.
The chief secretary also called on the Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Jam Kamal Khan who assured to visit Quetta along with MD SSGC to review situation following reports of low gas pressure.
Meanwhile, residents of the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have also complained of the low gas pressure, saying they are facing hardships in its wake.
“Our life is miserable, we cannot cook anything at homes, our routine is affected badly, how to send our children to schools without breakfast, the government is to make efforts for rectifying the low gas issue which has resurrected its ugly head yet again despite claims on the part of official to ensure uninterrupted supply of the commodity after closing down CNG filling stations,” says a housewife in Siddiqabad, Zahaanat Bibi.
She said residents had to stand in long queues to get food from restaurants and tandoors during breakfast and dinner times.
Similarly, another resident Zahid Kamal of Shamsabad said the low gas pressure had multiplied for people in most areas, compelling them to use firewood or LPG to fulfill their household chores.
“Our routine is badly affected due to the low pressure of gas especially at early morning hours and in the evening when the pressure reduced to minimum and it became too difficult for the people to cook,” he observed.
Ahmed Ali Khan resident of G-7 said it was really annoying when everyone was in hurry to start their daily activities in the morning but could not get the breakfast ready on time due to low gas pressure.
