Durban: South African legend cricketer Jacques Kallis, who is struggling for runs recently, has announced an retirement from Test cricket after playing the decider match against India at Duban which starts on Thursday.
The star all-rounder has said that he will be available for selection in One Day Internationals.
Commenting on his decision, Kallis said: “It’s been an honour and a privilege to have been part of the South African Test team since making my debut 18 years ago. I have enjoyed every moment out in the middle but I just feel that the time is right to hang up my Test whites.
Kallis has been the mainstay of South African batting and bowling for more than a decade. He’s the next in highest century makers’ list after Sachin Tendulkar in Test cricket. Kallis has scored 44 centuries in Test cricket.
He has played 165 test matches for his team and scored scoring 13174 runs, taking 292 wickets and holding on to 199 catches.
