Islamabad: After a gap of 14 years, Directors General Military Operations (DGMOs) of Pakistan and India will meet today (Tuesday) at Wahgah Border to make a mechanism to ease tensions and maintain ceasefire at the heavily militarised Line of Control (LoC).
Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam told that the two commanders will also discuss firing incidents on the working boundary.
Pakistan’s Director General Military Operations (DGMO) invited his Indian counterpart for a meeting on December 24.
According to a report, Major General Amir Riaz will hold a meeting with Lieutenant General Vinod Bhatia at 11am. Both DGMOs will be assisted by a team of four military officers each, they added.
The purpose of the meeting is to curtail tension along the Line of Control (LoC).
The decision to meet was taken during the September meeting between Prime Ministers Nawaz Sharif and Manmohan Singh in New York.
During the Nawaz-Manmohan meeting it was decided that both countries would abide by the 2003 ceasefire agreement to end tension along the border.
