Islamabad: The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Tassaduq Hussain Jillani today (Thursday) has assued journalists to take Suo Moto action over the discrimination in full-court reference coverage.
The new Chief Justice sworn in today took oath during the ceremony held in Aiwan-e-Sadr which was administered by the President Mamnoon Hussain.
According to sources, the journalist body, Press Association of Supreme Court (PASC) requested the CJ just after the oath ceremony to take take against this huge discrimination in which only one channel got the permission to take the footage of most important ceremony.
The sources said that the Chief Justice Tassaduq Jillani assured that body that he will definitely take Suo Moto action.
It is to be mentioned here that the issue has been sparked when the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s staff on Wednesday flouted relevant constitutional provision by providing footage of the full-court reference to only one particular channel.
Journalists from other media channels are not pleased over the incident, saying fundamental rights of journalists were violated. They demanded that action should be taken against those responsible for this act.
