KARACHI: At least five people were killed and around 20 others injured in twin blasts in Ancholi area of Karachi, the port city and financial hub of the country.
According to officials, two blasts occurred in the area near a tea stall and a milk shop, killing five and injuring more than 18 people who were rushed to different hospitals of the city. They said that women and children were also among the injured.
Rescue teams and heavy contingent of police and Rangers also rushed to the spot. After initial investigation, the bomb disposal squad said that the bomb was apparently planted in a motorcycle.
The explosions damaged a number of shops, vehicles parked near the tea stall while a local television said that their producer was among the victims.
