Peshawar: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is now all set to stage sit-in in Peshawar today against drone strikes and to halt NATO supplies.
According to the programme PTI activists from all over country will gather at Naran Garden in Hayatabad area on Saturday morning, commencing sit-in to register protest with the government against US’s drone attacks on Pakistani land and would continue till Sunday evening.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), an ally of the PTI in KPK government has confirmed its participation and would stand shoulder to shoulder with PTI against continued NATO supply and drone strikes.
Both, the PTI and the JI had already stated that they would stop NATO supplies even if it meant his party losing its place in the provincial government.
The call of sit-in was given by PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government against drone attacks and NATO supply.
The provincial government has also finalized security plan for protest demonstration and traffic would also be suspended on different points of sit-in.
Transporters were directed to use alternate routes in order to perform routine work smoothly.
KP government would also deploy heavy police contingents to control law and order situation during sit-in.
The PTI Chairman Imran Khan said that they were holding the biggest ever anti drone protest , where they could decided to block NATO supplies permanently
If the PTI is successful in gathering over 200,000 people in Peshawar, as it aims to, a ripple effect would see both provincial government and centre in a face off regarding the next step in the NATO/drone two-step.
