Lahore: The three-day 4th International Alhamra Literary & Culture Conference 2013 begins in Lahore today‚ under the aegis of Lahore Arts Council.
A large number of writers‚ poets‚ intellectuals‚ academicians and journalists besides other delegates from several countries including Pakistan‚ India and Bangladesh are taking part in the conference.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is expected to inaugurate the literary gala and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif will be the chief guest at the concluding ceremony.
There will be more than 100 delegates from India, Iran, Bangladesh, Turkey, Egypt and the USA. Many leading personalities including Kuldip Nayar, Mahesh Bhatt, Shamsur Rehman Farooqi, Shamim Hanfi, Dr Athar Farooqi, King Sukh Nag and Alina Itrat will come from India.
Classical dancer Nahid Siddique will grace the stage on the inaugural day of the conference. There will also be an Indo-Pak poetry sitting on the second day and the conference will conclude with a music evening in which prominent Pakistani singers will perform. A book fair and a painting exhibition also are features of the upcoming event.
