RAWALPINDI: Lahore High Court (LHC), Rawalpindi bench ordered the Punjab government to restore ‘Sasti Roti Scheme’, low-cost bread provision scheme, for facilitating the low-income locals.
Justice Masood headed one-member bench concluded the hearing on petition filed by a local regarding reinstation of the scheme announced by the Punjab government but afterward frozen on undisclosed reasons.
The petitioner, Abdul Rasheed, provided his stance before the court that bread on nominal prices was being provided amongst the locals across the province via provision of low-cost flour to the breadmakers under the scheme.
Rasheed said that stoppage of flour supply to the breadmakers snatched the facilities to the needy persons by provincial government.
However, the court asked the Punjab government to submit answer till November 28 after restoration of the scheme.
