WASHINGTON: United States is likely to cooperate with Pakistan in establishing over 4500 Mega Watt mega power projects.
The assurance was given at the concluding session the fifth meeting of Pak-America Energy Groups in Washington on Thursday.
Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Minister for petroleum and natural resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi participate the meeting and both leaders discussed the issue of cooperation in energy field.
Pakistan stressed the US officials to take Bhasha Dam and coal projects as an important need of Pakistan.
Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan had asked the US investor to invest in coal energy sector because Pakistan was not producing even one kilowatt electricity through coal. If US were ready to extend help and international investors were ready to invest in Pakistan, the energy projects in the country would be completed timely.
Khawaja Asif said that Turkmenistan, Pakistan, India and Afghanistan gas pipeline project would enter into final stage soon.
Meanwhile, international institutions are ready to assist in KASA project as well.
The Pakistani ministers met with the representatives of private firms and briefed them regarding the privatization of the institution.
Discussing the alternate energy sources geo thermal has been considered as best option. At the end of Energy Group meeting the participants termed the meeting as positive.
The Pakistani delegation would leave Washington for Houston to participate in energy conference, where it would discus the issue regarding bringing the investment to the country.
