ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Amir Maulana Fazlur Rehman has announced to restore the tribal Jirga to facilitate the government for restoration of dialogues with the Taliban.
The tribal Jirga will use its influence for resumption of yet-to-be initiated dialogues process. The Jirga enjoys the trust of national leadership.
In a statement issued by the JUI-F spokesman from Islamabad on Wednesday, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the objective of restoration of the Jirga is to remove the deadlock emerged in the dialogues process between the government and the Taliban after the recent US drone attack in the Northern Waziristan that killed TTP chief, Hakeemullah Mahsood.
He said that US drones sabotaged the peace process with the Taliban in Pakistan. He said that it is demand of the situation to make new initiatives and efforts for dialogues with the Taliban and some way should be found out so that peace dialogues could be restored.
He said the All Parties Conference was held in February, 2013 in Islamabad under tribal Jirga and the national leadership promised for implementation of the recommendations of the Jirga.
He said that no effective procedure can be devised for talks with the Taliban without including the tribal people in the dialogues process with the Taliban.
Fazlur Rehman said that the Jirga would guide in the dialogues process because the Jirga has the confidence of the society and they are aware of the tribal traditions and customs as well.
He said that no one can play the role in the reconciliation process with the Taliban other than Jirga.
He said that Pakistani nation would not allow any third party to sabotage the efforts made for the peace and reconciliation, saying that progress would have to be made towards peace.
