1st Muharram: KPK govt marks public holiday today

PESHAWAR: Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a public holiday in the province on the occasion of 1st Muharram, 1435 Hijra.

The Sunni Muslims also mark the as death anniversary of Rashidun Caliphs Umar ibn Al-Khattāb, one of the most powerful and influential Muslim caliphs (rulers) in history.

Accroding to media report, the decision pertaining to the holiday was taken during the meeting of the provincial cabinet which was chared by Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak.

Following the cabinet decision, the provincial administration department has also notified the public holiday for Wednesday (today).
