PESHAWAR: Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) Pakistan’s chief Hakeemullah Mehsud has buried in western tribal area of the Pakistan.
Sources told to the Pakistani media that besides Hakimullah Mehsud, his uncle, driver and other aides fell prey to the U.S. drone attacks were also buried at different places in the North Waziristan Agency area of Pak-Afghanistan border.
“TTP’s Central Advisory Committee meeting is also expected today to chose their new chief, Umar Khalid, Mulla Fazlullah and Khan Said alias Sajna can be selected as new chief,” sources told the media.
Umar Khalid is Ameer of TTP in Mohmand Agency, Mullah Fazlullah in Malakand while Khan Said alias Sajna is chief of the Taliban in South Waziristan.
Pakistan government has not yet confirmed the death of Hakimullah Mehsud, however, it has stopped the delegation from visiting North Waziristan to hold peace talks following the reports of TTP chief’s death.
Local people of Pakistan’s tribal area told that around 20 people have been killed in yesterday’s Drone strike at Miran Shah’s suburb Dandy Derpa khail.
Pakistani officials said that CIA-operated drones had fired at least four missiles at a compound that had been built for Mehsud about a year ago, and that he had used intermittently since then.
Local Pakistani media also reported that the TTP headquarter was targeted in the strike where the core committee meeting was under going to discuss the dialogue process with Pakistani government.
The Pakistani official said that Abdullah Behar, Mehsud’s deputy, had also died in the strike. Behar had just taken over from Latif Mehsud, a militant commander who was detained by U.S. forces in Afghanistan last month.
“8 spy plans have been seen flying in Mir Ali, Razmak and other areas of Northern Waziristan,” tribal sources told the media.
Pakistani Taliban leader Hakimullah Mehsud came to prominence in 2007 after a number of spectacular raids against Pakistan’s army. At that time he was one of several commanders in the militant group.
Hakimullah Mehsud was the anointed successor to Baitullah Mehsud, and took over as leader after the latter was killed in a US drone strike in August 2009.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan,  claimed yesterday that the strikes were aimed at sabotaging efforts for establishing peace in the country. “A delegation was about to be sent to talk to Taliban tomorrow (Saturday),” he said.
