KARACHI: Chairman, Pakistan Steel Peoples Workers Union–CBA, Shamshad Qureshi while addressing a workers convention in Pakistan steel demanded the immediate release of salaries to the PSM employees.
“There is no need of delay after the release of Rs 700 million from the government, PSM management must pay the delayed salaries to the employees.”
He said that approved salary for PSM employees still not disbursed and the gap reaches now to the third month Aug- Sep – Oct 2013.
Non serious attitude of the current government, Unavailability of raw materials and increasing losses day by day laid down Pakistan Steel in severe stage of financial and production crisis.
He further said that, no move of privatization will be accepted by the workers of Pakistan Steel, as 10000 workers are the major stake holders of PSM.
He said, the referendum for CBA in Pakistan Steel on 4th November became most important and key to the solution of PSM future as workers are the first major stake holders. Those rejected alliances of some workers again trying to put hurdles in this democratic right of workers on their illogical and baseless facts through the judiciary.
He said that workers of PSM gave their mandate continuous three times to Pakistan Steel Peoples Workers Union and we have served and saved the worker rights and fulfilled their demands successfully.
According to sources PSM referendum campaigning is on the edge as United workers front trying to take a stay order from Sindh high court to delay the referendum, as already it was delayed about 5 months.
On the other hand government is yet in a hangout position regarding future of this national asset which is going to “rot” as all production plants are in a shutdown stage.Salary for the month of Aug, Sep and now October 2013 are due to the mismanagement Board of Directors in a recent meeting still not taken any decision except formation of a board members committee.
