ISLAMABAD: The federal workshop has held on research, teaching and training for Fundamental Rights commenced here at local hotel of Islamabad, reported on Tuesday.
“The research on fundamental rights needs to be linked to theoretical framework in Pakistan. The educational institutions should encourage research, teaching and training on fundamental rights through various academic/co-curricular activities and developing indigenous components of understanding”, it was expressed by the participants.
The workshop is being organized by Centre for Civic Education Pakistan, a research and training institution in cooperation with National Endowment for democracy and Inter University Consortium for Promotion of Social Sciences Pakistan.
While sharing the objectives of the workshop, Mr. Zafarullah Khan Executive Director Centre for Civic Education informed that the workshop brought together scholars, researchers and civic activists to share their ideas and experiences along with listening from leading academicians and experts on the theme.
He informed that every citizen can reform the system through equipping with quality education, power of vote, right to information for transparent governance, consumer right and public interest ligation. He also highlighted the concept and historical evolution of fundamental rights in Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion as guest speaker, Ashfaq Saleem Mirza, senior human right activist emphasized over collective and concrete efforts in order to encourage teaching and research on fundamental rights.
He said that the citizens should be aware of their constitutional rights and culture of human right values may be promoted at all levels.
While responding to a question, he evaluated the values of active & responsible citizenship, rule of law and critical thinking among our youth.
