The new rules for internet data security has been designed after United States National Security Agency spying on the sensitive data globally. The world is already in a state of shock with US spying on communication of others including its allies.
The bill for internet security is being presented in Brazilian Congress for approval. The purpose of the bill is to ensure that local information on internet not to be shared internationally.
Google, Facebook and other internet companies will be bound to follow the new laws. According to a leader of Congress, such a move will lead to economic loss but will ensure that the data is safe within Brazilian territory.
Last month, news of US spying on Brazilian data sparked controversy. The President of Brazil also supports the bill. On the other hand, the US media claims that spying programme has been shut down by the government.
“This would be a turning point for these companies,” the official said, naming Facebook, Google Inc and Microsoft Corp as examples, although they would not be the only companies affected. “If you want to work here, you will have to obey our rules”.
