KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s political activist, Dilshad Ahmed, has reportedly in severe condition by alleged torture of Rangers, the para-military force of Pakistan.
‘Dilshad Ahmed was tortured by the Rangers’ officials after his arrestment,’ the wife of Dilshad Ahmed told local media.
The victim’s wife demanded the higher authorities for confirming the provision of justice to her family over the brutal act.
It should be mentioned that law enforcement agencies including Police and Rangers are conducting operation in the metropolis; arrested hundreds of suspects in criminal cases.
According to local media reports, Dilshad Ahmed Khan is the former unit-in-charge of MQM’s Burns Road sector and currently in a coma at a private hospital, according to the party.
“Dilshad was tortured while in custody,” said the statement.
According to the party, Khan was picked up from Pakistan Chowk by law enforcement agencies on October 23. Two days later, he was handed over to his family in critical condition. He was initially taken to Civil hospital but later shifted to a private hospital.
On the other hand, Rangers denied the allegations that Dilshad was tortured in custody and claimed he was handed over to his brother safe and sound, Express Tribune reported.
“He was released a day after he was arrested because of his heart condition.” The spokesperson said that Dilshad’s condition was fine. “We have copies of the hand-over procedure.”
