KARACHI: Lyari that was once famous for its sports now are continuously under the siege of gang war firing. The residents have to reside on drugs to get a peaceful sleep whereas they also don’t have anywhere to go because of 24/7 bullet exchange between the warring groups.
According to the News Tribe Correspondent 22 suspected criminals from Lyari were arrested on Sunday. The law and order situation has become a question mark in Karachi due to the growing insurgency especially in the area of Lyari.
Earlier, various firing incidents injured six people in the area. The people have no other alternative other than leaving to a safer zone. Sources say that rangers carried out targeted operation in Alfalah Road, Gulistan Chowk, Nawa lane, Phool Patti Lane, Chakiwara, Bihar Colony, Dubai Chowk, Alfalah Road along the neighbouring areas.
The entry and exit points were also sealed by the police while the rangers carried out the operations. Even the law enforcement agencies find it difficult to deal with the criminals during operations. A lady was also reportedly injured due to a rocket firing. Three other people injured in firing incident in the jurisdiction of the Calry Police Station.
On the other hand, the warring groups of Lyari have agreed to a ceasefire. Since the last two days, 22 people were killed in firing between two rival groups. Both groups made use of heavy arms including rockets, hand grenades and rockets.
The police on the other hand sealed entrance and exit points to Alfalah Road, Chakiwara, Singu Lane, Phool Patti Lane, Bihar Colony, Cheel Chowk and Dubai Chowk along with areas adjoining.
According to the sources, two gang war groups have agreed to ceasefire and have entered to dialogue process as well. According to the reports, police has arrested the criminals and seized ammunition from them.
The rangers officials said that they will provide food items including Biryani, water tanks and children milk. The meeting also discussed the strategy of the operations and establishment of law and order.
