Washington: Search engine giant Google is gearing up to launch its flagship device Google Nexus 5, new report indicate the 31st October launch from Google play store.
The company also introducing its new software Android 4.4 KitKat along with its flagship smartphone.
Things might be about to change, however, as a new report claims the next-generation Nexus smartphone will go on sale on Oct. 31.
Unlike Apple’s unveiling of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, it appears that Google is going to keep things more low key when it announces the Nexus 5.
MobileSyrup is reporting that sources have told the site that Google will make the Nexus 5 available in the U.S. via the Google Play Store on Thursday, Oct. 31. Its sources also claim that it will then launch the smartphone about a week later in Canada, where Rogers, Bell, TELUS, Koodo, and Virgin will offer it.
The Nexus 5 will be built by LG, just like the Nexus 4, and is expected to feature a 5-inch 1080 x 1920 Full HD IPS display with a pixel density of 442 pixels per inch (ppi) and be the first device to launch with Android 4.4 KitKat. It is expected to be powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM. The handset will include an 8-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat. The smartphone’s wireless capabilities are expected to include a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC, and GPS. The Nexus 5 will be offered in 16GB and 32GB internal storage variants and use a 2,300mAh battery.
Google hasn’t officially confirmed the existence of the Nexus 5, but the company accidentally posted a press image of the smartphone and its $349 starting price for the 16GB model before quickly removing it from the Play Store.
We know it’s coming any day now and Oct. 31 could be the day Nexus fans have been waiting for. Of course, we’ll have to wait for Google to officially give us the full details. We’ll be on top of this and will report any new information as it comes in.
