KARACHI: Furious fire erupted at a famous Millennium shopping mall in Karachi on Wednesday while fire tenders started their activities to control the situation with rescue working.
The fire reportedly started from the kitchen of a food center present in the premises of Millennium shopping mall situated in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi.
Heavy smokes filled in the millennium shopping mall due to large-scale fire while several shop keepers and customers including women and children were reportedly found unconscious.
Embarrassing moments were seen in the furious incident when some miscreants caught stealing the products inside some shops despite facilitating the victims to get rid of large-scale fire.
However, officials of the law enforcement agencies thwarted their efforts by taking immediate action but products of worth billions ashed due to large-scale fire.
Many people including shop keepers and customers were reached on the roof of the mall for saving their lives while two rescue cranes lined up to evacuate the persons.
Rescue authorities called up snorkel lift at the location in order to commence the evacuation process as the rescue crane becomes out of order.
Police also opened aerial fire to remove the crowd from the spot in order to remove difficulties in rescue activities as the workers was facing much troubles due to the crowd present at the spot enjoying the view of the burning event despite providing assistance.
An eyewitness told TheNewsTribe representative that majority of the persons stuck inside are shop keepers as it is not the rush time.
Ten fire brigades managed controlling the hug with help of fire fighters and several volunteers from Cheepa who reached the location.
The unconscious persons were shifted to the nearby hospital via Cheepa ambulances present at the spot.
Rescue sources confirmed that all persons has been evacuated from the building, whereas, fire fighters is continuing their work to control fire.
