LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf has decided to bring forward Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed as opposition leader.
Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed and Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s leader senator Babar Ghori has already contacted each other. Sources also claim Chairman PTI, Imran Khan and leader Awami Muslim League Sheikh Rasheed had an important meeting in Rawalpindi in which core national issues were discussed.
Both the leaders of their respective parties said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim Nawaz (PML-N) have made deals with one another. PTI suggested the name of Sheikh Rasheed as opposition leader and for this purpose also contacted other political parties of opposition.
Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed also contacted Babar Ghori and discussed political situation of the country. According to the statistics, PPP has 45 seats in the National Assembly (NA) whereas PTI has 35 and MQM has 24 seats. If both the parties reach mutual consensus then PTI+MQM will have more seats than PPP and thus new leader of the opposition may get elected. Sources claim that discussion with Imran Khan did not include selection of Sheikh Rasheed as new leader of opposition.
