Washington: Samsung after announcing world’s first flexible display smartphone Samsung Galaxy Round, now gearing up to introduce high end quad core flip phone.
New high-end Android flip-phone will feature a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and a whopping 13-megapixel camera, according to “Techno Tribe“.
Samsung takes great pride in building a smartphone that targets a specific audience. Unlike other handset vendors who target an encompassing group, Samsung has no problem in releasing a device that will target a specific audience and sometimes those risks pay off handsomely for the company.
The Galaxy Note is the perfect example; when Samsung announced the phablet, analysts and most of the tech community questioned the device claiming that it was just too big, consumers would not buy it, and it would be a failure. Samsung took a chance nonetheless and proved the critics wrong and now there’s no denying that the gamble paid off. Its Galaxy Note phablets are among the most successful and popular handsets the company releases.
Samsung went even larger with its Galaxy Mega series by including a 6.3-inch display, knowing full well that it wasn’t going to be the smartphone for everyone. It did know, however, that there are consumers who want a device with an even larger display than the Note series and Samsung is more than happy to provide and sell that device, even if it’s not going to see the same kind of sales as its Galaxy S and Galaxy Note line.
The company veered off into a new direction when it launched two Android based flip-phones this year. The Samsung Hennessy and Galaxy Golden were designed to offer consumers the old school flip-phone experience but with a modern day twist. According to a new report, Samsung is getting ready to launch a new flip-phone that brings the high-end specs and features found in its flagship smarthpones to the old-school design.
The handset has appeared on China’s TENAA certification site and it lays out what the smartphone, which is known only as the SM-W2014, will feature. The handset will use two 3.7-inch WVGA Super AMOLED displays – one on the inside and another external display for when the device is closed. It will be powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM. It will ship with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and a 13-megapixel rear camera, as well as a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter.
The smartphone is expected to make its debut in select Asian markets and there is no word so far on when or if it will see a U.S. launch as well. We’ll stay on top of this in case you’re the type who wants to kick it old school with an Android flip-phone.
