JEDDAH: An unnamed God factotum has made angelic move for saving life of Saudi Arabian citizen declared for death penalty, beheading by submitting huge compensation amount of 5 million Saudi riyals (approx. $133,322.50).
Abdul Rehman Alqibi, the accused Saudi citizen, had been sentenced to death by the country’s court over found him guilty in murdering a person, according to foreign media reports.
The victim’s family has demanded a huge compensation amount of 10 million Saudi riyals from Alqibi against murdering of their relative, reports said.
However, the convict’s family managed to arrange only half of the original amount, 5 million riyals while an anonymous person submitted another half part secretly in the court which saved the life of Abdul Rehman Alqibi from facing beheading punishment.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA)’s justice system against criminal activities completely based on Sharia law as Islam officially declared the state religion.
The death penalty can be imposed for a wide range of offences including murder, rape, armed robbery, repeated drug use, apostasy which usually carried out by beheading with a sword while more rarely by firing squad and sometimes by stoning.
According to unofficial statistics, at least 345 reported executions between 2007 and 2010 were carried out by public beheading while the last death punishment via beheading took place in 2012 over sorcery.
