ISLAMABAD: Government of Pakistan has equipped the Balochistan police with 3,000 modern machine guns as well as sub-machine guns and their ammunition, The News Tribe reported on Sunday.
The decision held by Balochistan police was under discussion since the new government came into power.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and army chief General Ashfaq Kayani had met and decided that the army would provide as many weapons as possible without causing a dent in their own operations.
The purpose of providing more and modern ammunition is to help the Balochistan police with combating rising terrorism in the province.
The security force was given 360,000 bullets for the machine guns and an additional 120,000 bullets for the sub-machine guns.
