RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan’s top military leader, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has formally announced his retirement from his post on Sunday.
General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, while announcing his retirement, said that my services’ period is ending on November 29 of this year.
Kayani clarified his stance over reports for getting an additional charge in armed forces said that debates are being made on my new responsibilities which is totally based on rumours.
Armed forces of Pakistan want to see powerful democratic system in the country and completely support the enrichment of the setup in Pakistan.
The top military official of Pakistan said, ‘I served a great nation and headed a great force’.
‘Departments and traditions have more importance over an individual; traditions should be followed.’, General Kayani added.
Kayani commented over the democratic development in Pakistan, ‘Constitution and public opinion has got root in the country.’
He said, ‘I’m thankful to Pakistani nation and political leadership for showing their confidence on me.’
Earlier, Pakistan’s federal government had announced that appointment on the top military posts including Chief of Army Staff and Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee would be made on basis of seniority.
