LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s selection committee has finalised 12 names as Pakistani test squad going to play series against South Africa at United Arab Emirates (UAE) in this month.
PCB officials have shortlisted the 12 players for the test series excluding Muhammad Hafeez and pacer Wahab Riaz while final announcement will be made soon, insider sources said.
The squad will be expanded up to 15 players but after completion of practice match with South African team at Sharjah.
Some juniors batsmen including Shan Masood, Faisal Iqbal, Asad Shafiq as well as seamer Eshan Adil were named amongst Pakistan A squad, so they could be placed in the final test squad if they become successful impressing the PCB management.
Moreover fast bowler Umar Gul is expecting a comeback in the series against South Africa after being injured and sidelined following a knee injury since March.
Pakistani Test squad:
The test squad’s names including skipper Misbah-ul-Haq, Azhar Ali, Khurram Manzoor, Zulfiqar Babar, Younis Khan, Saeed Ajmal, Rahat Ali, Umar Amin, Adnan Akmal (wk), Abdur Rehman, Junaid Khan and Mohammad Irfan.
On the other hand, South African cricket board announced their ODI and test squads but not the T20 as it would be named after the Champions League T20 ending on October 6.
South African Test squad:
Skipper Graeme Smith, Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Dean Elgar, Imran Tahir, Jacques Kallis, Rory Kleinveldt, Morne Morkel, Alviro Petersen, Robin Peterson, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn, Thami Tsolekile. South Africa.
South African ODI squad:
AB de Villiers (captain), Hashim Amla, Quinton de Kock, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir, Ryan McLaren, David Miller, Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell, Robin Peterson, Vernon Philander, Graeme Smith, Dale Steyn, Lonwabo Tsotsobe.
