The alleged suspect has been shot dead by the police during chase after shooting outside the United States Capitol Building in Washington, DC on Thursday afternoon.
At least a dozen shots were fired. Media are being instructed to leave the area. The suspect was shot and killed by Capitol Police, according to Reuters reporter, Mark Hosenball.
The gunfire occurred just outside the building around 2 p.m., following a car chase that ended near the Capitol.
The shots came from a suspect, declared female by multiple reports, in a two-door black car. It raced off after having attempted to ram into the gate at the White House, being pursued by police, RT reports.
“This appears to be an isolated incident,” said Capitol Police in a press briefing shortly after the incident.
