ISLAMABAD: Following strict orders of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), top leadership of political rivals including Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) submitted their asset details today.
ECP sources said that PML-N belonged Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, other prominent leader Hamza Shahbaz and the PTI chief Imran Khan has put forwarded their complete assets’ details in ECP on September 30 (today), the last date for submission.
Sources revealed that more than 400 members of Pakistan’s upper and lower houses submitted the particulars till now including 58 senators and 163 National Assembly members while the submission of the asset details of 753 members parliament and provincial assemblies are still due to come.
According to ECP, membership of the parliamentarian will be suspended on October 15 if they failed to provide their complete asset details till September 30.
CM Sindh Qaim Ali Shah and the Speaker to Punjab Assembly Rana Mohammad Iqbal also presented the particulars today while the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Ministers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and Balochistan provinces has failed to accomplish ECP’s orders on the last date of submission.
PM Nawaz Sharif demanded the ECP for special extension in submission of his assets details as he is currently on visit to the ongoing 68th United Nations’ General Assembly session in US.
Moreover, the asset details of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Speakers of the provincial assemblies including Sindh, KPK and Balochistan also not received.
