New York: Windows Phone giant Nokia is gearing up to launch its first ever tablet Nokia Lumia 2520, new report claims that the device have passed FCC test.
Rumors are circulating of 6 inch tablet for long time. And now the device have passed FCC test. The documents reveal the tablet will have 4G LTE support on both Verizon and AT&T’s networks.
The company is expected to add two important devices under its flag. Nokia is planning on releasing the first Windows Phone phablet and a Windows RT-based tablet. There have been multiple leaks on the 6-inch Lumia 1520. The handset will run an updated version of the Windows Phone OS that supports 1080p full HD displays and quad-core processors.
The update allows Windows Phone devices to be on a more even playing field with its high-end Android counterparts, such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Sony Xperia Z Ultra.
Nokia is also planning on launching its first Windows tablet. The device has been going by the codename “Sirius”, but is believed to be officially called the Lumia 2520. The tablet has just passed through the FCC and the documents reveal it supports both Verizon and AT&T’s 4G LTE networks. The upcoming Nokia slate is expected to run the same version of Windows RT 8.1 that Microsoft has just announced for its Surface 2.
The Nokia Lumia 2520 is rumored to include a 10.1-inch in plane switching (IPS) HD display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920. The tablet will run the upcoming Windows RT 8.1 OS and will be powered by a 2.15GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. It will reportedly include 32GB of internal storage, a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 64GB microSD cards, and 2GB of RAM.
Just like the latest Lumia smartphones, the Lumia 2520 will pack in a high-end 6.7-megapixel rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics. The tablet is rumored to be offered in both Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + LTE models. It is expected to have a large battery that will provide around 10 hours of battery life and will be ultra slim and light, coming in at 0.35-inches thick and weighing 1.3 pounds.
Nokia is expected to unveil the Lumia 1520 phablet and Lumia 2520 tablet at the Nokia World event beginning October 22. We’ll probably hear Verizon and AT&T’s launch plans soon after.
