ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has said that economic growth of the country is largely affected due to power loses.
While addressing to a seminar on ‘Energy Secure Pakistan’ organised by Institute of Policy Studies (IPS), the minister for planning said that the energy crises is a major threat to economy. The present government has engaged two thirds of its time trying to solve energy crises.
Ahsan Iqbal further added that the currently production mark of electricity has been crossed to 16,000 megawatt. The government aims to complete coal-based Gadani power project in a span of three and a half years.
“The coal-based Gadani power project, to be completed in three and a half years, is an economic source of electricity. Thar Coal Project would be completed on a fast track basis in collaboration with China”. Ahsan Iqbal also said that Bhasha Dam is given the highest priority as severe water crises may be upon Pakistan in coming 5-10 years.
