ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party Information Secretary Qamar Zaman Kaira on Monday urged the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to show restraint, saying that workers of all parties, including PPP, were arrested during the ongoing operation in Karachi.
The MQM says that the operation against criminals has been turned into anti-MQM action.
In a chat with media persons in Islamabad, Kaira said that his party would not let the government get weaker. He said that if police were involved in victimization, courts should be approached.
He said no political party is a terrorist party, but the criminals join parties for securing themselves. He said MQM is a big party and it is possible that the majority of the people arrested from Karachi belong to it.
“We had agreed to hold local body elections on party-basis under the charter of democracy (CoD). But the Punjab government was now going to conduct non-party polls,” he said.
