ISLAMABAD: In order to provide encouragement and guidance to the provincial winners of Telenor Pakistan’s knowledge-based initiative ‘Telenor Talkshawk Internet Champion’ who will compete in the grand finale in Norway, a warm-up session was conducted at a college here in Islamabad today.
The session was witnessed by some of the top management executives of Telenor Group as well.
These provincial winners will be visiting Opera Mini Labs in Oslo, Norway, to learn more as to how the internet is being used by people around the world to gain and spread knowledge. They would also compete against each other for Pakistan’s 1st Talkshawk Internet Champion title.
Speaking on the occasion, Irfan Wahab Khan, Chief Marketing Officer, Telenor Pakistan expressed his gratitude towards the stakeholders who helped Telenor Talkshawk Internet Champion program achieve this milestone. He said, “Telenor Group is committed to building a digital future for all the people of Asia, and believes that mobile internet is a catalyst for growth which should be accessible to everyone. In Pakistan, Telenor Talkshawk Internet Champion initiative, as part of ‘Internet for All’ movement, presented the advantages of using the internet and digital tools in a positive manner, sharpening the minds of youth to become future digital prodigies, bringing honour and prestige to the country. Through training halls, experience zones and competitions, the children were encouraged to use internet/mobile internet as tools that will empower them to strive ahead in life and also work towards a digitally sound Pakistan. Telenor Talkshawk Internet Champion is in line with our commitment to encourage the youth to utilize the latest technology and make a positive contribution to the society. We believe that every child in the country has the potential to contribute in the socio-economic development of Pakistan; all they need is skills development and guidance in the right direction.”
Telenor Talkshawk Internet Champion is a nationwide knowledge based initiative that aims to create, nurture and empower a new digital generation in Pakistan. The primary objective of the program is to provide learning and training to children; enabling them to tap the potential of the internet and be future proponents in the digital age. Telenor Talkshawlk Internet Champion has successfully been concluded in Sindh, KPK, Punjab, Baluchistan, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan. During the campaign, a total of 1,599 schools were covered enlightening 632, 289 students across Pakistan.
